Standard or High detail?
Standard (300dpi) is ideal for viewing on phones, tablets and TV, and for reprints at the same size.
High detail (600dpi) is for enlarging, cropping in on faces, or very small photos.
| What you want to do | Standard 300dpi | High detail 600dpi |
|---|---|---|
| View on a phone, tablet or computer | ✓ Great | ✓ Great |
| Watch on a TV | ✓ Great | ✓ Great |
| Reprint at the same size | ✓ Great | ✓ Great |
| Zoom in on a face in a group photo | Some detail | ✓ More detail |
| Enlarge the original photo | Same size | ✓ Up to twice the size |
Very small old prints, such as 2x3 inch photos, look better at High detail. A scan can only be as sharp as the original photo. Negatives and slides are always scanned at 3600dpi, because film is so much smaller than a print.

The whole order is charged at the band its quantity reaches. Every photo comes back colour-corrected, cleaned, straightened and cropped. If you'd like the untouched original scans as well, before our colour correction, add them to your order for £10.
Thick or mounted photos: photos on card, in frames, very curled, or Polaroids can't go through our photo scanner, so they go through our flatbed scanner instead, at 50p (300dpi) or 55p (600dpi) each. Anything larger than A4, we'll quote for first.
